Hello wheel of time lovers! I was wondering when you think the next book is coming out.
How freakin thick it will be and do you think its the end.
It seems like an end is expected and definitely in the mix.
I just wonder, like you, how the heck he is going to tie everything together in one book!
I mean come one man. It seems like he should give us two books, released at the same time. each a thousand pages. muhahahaha
You don't just let us mill through 4, 5, 6, and 7 and then wrap all of this up in ONE book.
Jordan definitely doesn't shirk on the descriptions but he definitely rushes through action scenes.
Make it thick
What do you think?

Re: sooo, whens the next book comin out?
Sun, January 7, 2007 - 5:53 PMThe thicker the better. ;-)
Also what about the prequel trilogy that started off with A New Spring. I'd love to read more of that, too!

Re: sooo, whens the next book comin out?
Sun, March 11, 2007 - 9:55 PMI haven't checked in the past couple of weeks, but Robert Jordan has been very ill, and has been concentrating on getting well. His blog says he works when he can, but I suppose the writing time comes second to recovery. When I find (again!) the link to his blog, I'll post it. -

Re: sooo, whens the next book comin out?
Sun, September 9, 2007 - 4:14 AMi really wish jordan well, refua shlema.
however, we wouldn't be in this boat if he hadn't dragged out the last two books, charles dickens-style, as if he were being paid by the word. i'm sick to death hearing about egwene's creaky chair. i'm almost happy to hear about her misfortune - at least it put an end to the incessant whining! the search for faile was dragged out a full book more than it had to be and mat's endless near-successful courting of tuon begins to be tiresome. everything is being dragged out to the point where you begin to hate it.
i'm sorry to say, but by taking this milk-your-readers-pump-out-wordy-novels-with-zero-action approach, jordan has really reduced himself in the fantasy genre...to a hack. i really liked him, but i am beginning to comprehend his critics. if he is able to write a final novel, i truly hope he will redeem himself. -

UPDATE: In an article on Forbes.com, Tom Doherty, president of Tor Books, said he expects that Robert Jordan will, "submit the final book in 2008 for publication in 2009." That's still two years away and many things can happen between now and then so don't put this in your calendar in ink just yet.
Robert Jordan is busy writing Book 12 as you read this. His direct quote is, "I guarantee that Book 12 will be published shortly after I finish writing it." He is also absolutely certain that this will be the final book of the series, no matter how long, because there are no more stopping points that would allow him to write two or more coherent books. Because this will easily be the longest book of the series it will probably not be published until 2009. He does have a tenative title, A Memory of Light.
That seems like a viable idea to us, but here's what Robert Jordan has to say, "There will be one more book. If it's 1500+ pages, comes with it's own luggage cart and Tor has to invent a new binding process, there will be one more book." We think that's clear! -

Re: sooo, whens the next book comin out?
Mon, September 10, 2007 - 8:39 AMI've long since stopped holding my breath ;)
When it's out I'll read it, hopefully he can finish it because last I knew he was fighting some serious health problems.
I agree with the general post, though I do like Crossroads of Twilight (I felt there was quite a bit of plot revealed in the book, despite the lack of action)
My hope is that it isn't a thrown together ending of the series but I'm not nearly as invested as I once was, I'm looking forward to Martin's new one MUCH more. :D -

Re: sooo, whens the next book comin out?
Mon, September 10, 2007 - 5:01 PMagreed, but martin only included *half* the characters in the last book with a promise of another book *this year* and now he's getting very cagey about that. his website indicates we'll be waiting a while. that's crazy. did he really not write a book's worth of tyrion chapters whilst writing cersei ones? i don't believe that. he must have the equal number of pages ready for us. -

Re: sooo, whens the next book comin out?
Tue, September 11, 2007 - 7:57 AMI can't really say, as he said on his site "Some story lines are going well, others not so well."
I'm willing to stay patient for Martin because I dig the series a whole lot, though some books aren't as good a reread IMO. I think he's just created a much more detailed world in the way I like the detail, where goods are produced, the flow of goods, ect. I think he's also done a much better job of showing a more "ground floor" feel for the books, rather than the "I'm the uber character who will blow up the world" deal. ;) -
