Knife of Dreams

I just got my book late last week.

I'm still mucking through the very long prologue chapter. But it's not bad so far - well except the coverart. Is that supposed to be Rand? He never looks the same on any two covers. The Aiel next to him looks closer to what some of the other covers have depicted as Rand, previously!

Yeah, wish I could say the same. I did a dumb thing back in September... ordered Knife of Dreams and the new Song of Ice & Fire book... and told them to give me free shipping by bundling them!! So I'm waiting until early November. Then, have to make the choice of which to read first.

On the good side, this will be after the election so I'll have time to read.

      Bad, Rachel!!
I wouldn't be able to stand having both of them at the same time... having to choose....

I thought the cover art was Perrin, with Berelain...

That artist sucks. I saw them in Irleand, and the british editions are just plain with the symbols on the front of Aes Sedai symbols and stuff....

Does anyone who's read the books approve the cover art? I've always thought it was horrible. Rand usually looks like he's 40+, and on KoD's cover they make him extra short, when he's supposed to be taller than most anyone except Aielmen. LoC looked like the cover of a trashy romance novel, and FoH had him walking boredly, alone, across a street. I guess some of the others were passable, even when they depicted things that never happened (The Great Hunt). Ack. I've been wanting to bring this up for a while.

I thought it was Perrin on the cover meeting with Galina from the Prologue. He has a beard, Rand doesn't have a beard. The woman is in white with a gold jeweled belt, obviously Galina. The Aiel is Gaul, and the man next to Perrin in the red coat with a breastplateover it is Arganda. Berelain isn't shown, but they are looking at the maps of Malden.

I'm not really happy with the portrayals on many of the covers. LoC was definitely a romance novel.

I've just come to accept bad cover art.

It seems that almost all cover artists are illiterate (or doing the cover art before the book is really written. . . but with tWoT I'm pretty sure it's just that they are illiterate)
Wrong hair color, wrong weaponry, wrong armor, wrong horses, etc etc etc

so no, I do not approve :)

No one likes the cover art!!!!

It's like embarrassing to take it places to read. You gotta like do it secretly or something? They DO look like trashy romance novel covers.

How can that person be an "artist". You know the body parts are all ill-porportioned and stuff. AND NO ONE COULD THING THAT LOOKS GOOD. It's not like there aren't a million awesome artists out there.

I just don't understand, but laugh at it.
